Different Sailing presents our Basic Sailing Course, an educational experience designed for those who want to enter the world of sailing or consolidate their skills through a perfect balance of theory and on-water practice. The course is led by FIV, UISP, and CSEN certified instructors, ready to teach the fundamentals of navigation, maneuvers, and life on board in total safety—always with a focus on fun.
We offer two flexible formulas: 3 Weekends, ideal for those with limited time who prefer gradual learning, or a 7-Day Intensive, for a complete and continuous immersion into the sailing world. During the course, you will master moorings, sail trimming, navigation, and boat management as we set our course toward Ponza.
By the end of the course, thanks to progressive learning and practical drills, you will be able to actively participate in the boat’s operation, gaining confidence and autonomy on board.

For this season, we are offering an elite program in technical refinement and leadership toward the Pontine Islands: a series of intensive weekends (or dedicated offshore routes) designed for those ready to make the definitive leap from crew member to Captain.
Every mile becomes an opportunity for real-world command. We’ll balance complex mooring maneuvers, emergency troubleshooting, and night navigation with team coordination and strategic passage planning. This is the ultimate experience to merge high-level professional training with the thrill of offshore sailing, giving you the confidence to lead a vessel and its crew in total autonomy.
The itinerary may be subject to change based on weather and sea conditions at the sole discretion of the skipper-instructor, ensuring the highest safety standards at all times.

No, a license is not required to participate. This course has an independent educational value and takes place in waters where a license is not mandatory for trainees. If you are planning to get your license in the future, ask us how to integrate this course into your training path.
Please bring a soft-sided bag (no hard suitcases). Your essentials: a sweatshirt for the evening, swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, a hat, snorkeling gear, and shoes with non-marking light soles. If you take personal medication, remember to bring it with you.
The Cassa Comune is a shared fund managed by the crew to cover the galley (food & drinks), fuel, and any port fees. The skipper is exempt from this contribution. The final amount depends on the group’s choices and lifestyle.
The course takes place on a single catamaran with a group of 6–10 participants. This small group size ensures everyone gets real time at the helm and individual attention from the instructor.
It happens! We will support you with practical advice on nutrition, positioning on board, and timing. If you know you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend bringing a personal remedy that you have previously tested.
