Take command of your passion and sail toward independence with the Boat License Course in North Rome by Different Sailing. In partnership with the historic Balducci Nautical School, we offer an elite training program that transforms theory into real-world competence. It’s not just about passing an exam; it’s about gaining the confidence needed to manage a vessel and its crew, embracing the principles of responsibility and mastery of the sea that distinguish all our skippers.

Whether you choose the Within 12 Miles or the Unlimited track, you will have professional instructors ready to guide you through chartwork, regulations, and practical maneuvers. Lessons take place in a prestigious location at Piazzale Clodio, with the added flexibility of online sessions, ensuring high-level technical and relational preparation in line with our motto: Have Fun Sailing.

Duration: Minimum 20 hours (Within 12mi) or 40 hours (Unlimited) + 5 hours of practical maneuvers.
Theory Location: North Rome (Piazzale Clodio, 57) or Online via Microsoft Teams.
Practical Location: Darsena di Fiumicino (Rome).
Certification: Achievement of Boat License (Sail/Power) following the exam at the Motorizzazione or Coast Guard.

How are our License Courses structured?
Our programs are designed to provide solid and structured preparation, adapted to the 2023 Ministerial Decree regulations. Each student is supported step-by-step, from educational materials to the filing of bureaucratic documentation.

Within 12 Miles Course: The ideal starting point. An intensive theory and practice path focused on coastal safety. Fee: €1,100
Unlimited Course: For those who want no boundaries. In-depth technical and chartwork training to navigate the open sea without restrictions. Fee: €1,400
Beyond 12 Miles Integration: Reserved for those who already hold a “Within 12 Miles” license and wish to extend their skills and navigation range. Fee: €600

The Different Sailing Added Value: Our fee includes a complete educational kit, total bureaucratic assistance, and, most importantly, a second exam attempt for free in case the theoretical test is not passed. Our goal is to see you at the helm as soon as possible.

Course Syllabus & Route

For this season, we are offering an immersive training experience heading toward the Pontine Islands: we are looking for Skippers and Co-Skippers ready to join our team for our flotillas in Italy and abroad.

We will transform this selection weekend into a real-world test of command and leadership, alternating technical boat management with crew coordination. Our goal is to blend professional excellence with the joy of sailing together, following our motto: Have Fun Sailing.

The program may be subject to changes based on weather and sea conditions at the sole discretion of the skipper-instructor, in order to ensure the highest safety standards.
